And now back to business as usual:

The latest addition to the She-Wolf Anniversary Project is a real coup, by a deviant who probably needs no introduction:



If you’re watching for superhero art here on dA, you’ve seen this artist’s work for sure. His new posts often appear near the top of the popular cartoons & comic and fan art categories, and he’s turned up on the daily deviation feature as well. MT has a clean, very graphic style that is equal parts traditional western comic and streamlined “animated” style. It’s a unique, eye pleasing look, and I knew if the opportunity presented itself I wanted that style represented in the She-Wolf anniversary series. And last week—it did!



MT did a great job with giving Janet a dynamic pose and the devilish smile she often sports while operating as a costumed crime fighter. He nailed her hairstyle, logo, and costume details splendidly, and the claws are a nifty touch too—reinforcing that she’s cute but dangerous! I also like the lighter color for the costume—black is often difficult to animate, and I feel like this is how she might look if cast in a modern cartoon. It’s a great take on the character that is both faithful and fresh at the same time.

Mr. Takara was also a joy to work with. The turnaround for this was dizzying—four days from first inquiry email to tonight’s post. I don’t know if that’s typical for him, but from such a busy guy I was quite impressed. I’m thrilled to have a piece by him in the She-Wolf Anniversary series, and honored to have one of my characters featured in his gallery as well! Be sure to give him props for the piece if you like it as much as I do!

Other Announcements:

I’m sure you’re all waiting for more word on HCIV. I’ve had to come to terms with the fact that my job right now does not allow for regularly scheduled updates, but that doesn’t mean I’m going to stop. As long as you guys keep reading, I’ll keep picking away at it. The next installment is sketched out and should hopefully be up by the end of the week—though I’ll certainly get it up sooner if I finish it. In the meantime, another Random Act of Janet and a MugShot (finally to the “b’s”!) have been posted to keep you occupied.

Not two deviants, but one deviant in two eras--I've fallen in love with the rich, detailed pastels of Ahlia77, featured in a gallery dedicated to her old works based on RPG characters she's played. The two above are of the most gorgeous red-headed werewolf I've ever seen (sorry Janet), but there anre many other fantastic characters and amazing creatures to be found there. Larkabella is home to the same artist's more recent work, such as the third thumbnail above, which has moved out of the realm of gothic horror and fantasy and into the cyberpunk style of GITS and others. Appropriately, these works use CGI coloring and are pretty cool two. Be sure to check out both galleries!
