Aaand you've probably noticed that there's been a definite increase in art posts lately as opposed to the last several months. So, finally, here's the deal:
As of three weeks ago, I have accepted a new position at the company where I work. It is, in essence, a demotion, though it is one into a new area of responsibility that should help diversify my resume. (I've been working in the same basic role for the better part of the last decade.) This was my decision, not the company's, and while it does result in less pay, it also is an hourly position which means--and for you guys this is the important part--that the 70 hour work weeks I've been doing are a thing of the past.

So what does this mean for you guys? Well, in addition to giving me new experiences at work I now have more time to give my art some attention. This is a big experiment--to see how much time I'm really willing to put into this drawing thing. In about a year we'll see how things are going, and go from there.
I'm actually considering starting a twitter account that would be dedicated solely to providing status reports on my art projects--much like the one at
Megatokyo. It's actually the first place I saw twitter being used and I thought it was a great idea--this was before it became "all the rage."

Anyway, the fact that you can add that to your dA page is a good incentive.
There's also other things I'm pondering. Now that I'm making less money at work, I'm considering a variety of things, like small commissions, PPV comics, and maybe prints. We'll see--that's a ways off yet. Money's not that big a deal--a higher quality of life is much more important than a higher standard of living. Again I'll keep you posted.
Now there has been one unexpected speed bump to all this that's arisen in the last week or so, which is why I wasn't able to hit the ground running like I planned, but it's nothing bad and may be nothing at all. If anything changes, I'll let you know.
Meanwhile, here's to better times ahead!
Until later,
S/RA(DF)
